The Committee of 100 for Economic Development, Inc. (C100) has selected Michael Jackson of Bernhard Capital for membership. C100 member Tom Clark, a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson, LLP, who nominated Michael stated, “Michael brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and dedication to public service that will bolster C100’s continued efforts to foster a vibrant business environment in Louisiana.”
Mr. Jackson is the Chief Diversity Officer for Bernhard Capital Partners. Prior to joining Bernhard Capital Partners, Mr. Jackson was a practicing attorney for over 25 years, utilizing his legal background in several capacities. He has represented and litigated for both plaintiffs and defendants in business and property insurance matters. He has also worked in the organization and development of the CareSouth Medical & Dental Health Center, a federally qualified Health Center whose main site is in Baton Rouge with branches throughout the state of Louisiana. Mr. Jackson most recently served CareSouth as its general counsel.
In 2000, Mr. Jackson was elected to the Louisiana Legislature where he served the people of the state as a member of the Louisiana Legislature as State Representative of District 61. He was reelected twice and completed his tenure in the legislature in 2012. Mr. Jackson is the immediate past chairman of the board of directors for the Capital Area American Heart Association receiving the 2021-2022 Gold Standard Board Award the highest board honor bestowed by the American Heart Association.
Mr. Jackson received his B.A from Southern University and his J.D. from Southern University Law Center. He also was selected to participate in the executive training program at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
