Baton Rouge, La. – In 2023, Louisiana’s costs for average industrial electricity prices ranked as the lowest in the United States, according to the latest economic intelligence dashboard from
the Committee of 100. The report, citing data compiled by the US Chamber of Commerce, also showed that Louisiana had the 3rd overall lowest cost of average electricity rates in the US, and

• Stagnant job growth: Louisiana is flat year over year for job creation, while the top 5 states in the South averaged 2.1% growth. (Slide 2)
• Houma Thibodaux and Baton Rouge Areas had the fastest job growth in the state and more than half of the metros added jobs over the year. However, almost half of the state’s region’s lost jobs over the year. (Slide 4)
• Job postings around Louisiana are down 33% since April 2023, showing a cooling trend for hiring. (Slide 6)
