Not many people around the country who head economic development organizations like the Baton Rouge Area Chamber can boast 15 years of success. Adam Knapp can.

Despite recession and pandemic and shifts in the workplace nationally and in Louisiana's industrial base, Baton Rouge has weathered multiple storms during Knapp’s tenure at BRAC and continues to grow.


More than 200 major projects were launched and even more are on the drawing boards, as BRAC and Louisiana seek to embrace the economic potential of carbon capture and other clean-energy advances.


If investment decisions are made worldwide for many of the biggest projects, local leadership remains vitally important. And under Knapp, the chamber has focused on not only the billion-dollar buildings but the million-dollar questions: How to better prepare students in schools? How to make sure that growth’s bounty is shared in a diverse and sometimes deeply divided society?
