The Committee of 100 for Economic Development, Inc. recently hosted its Annual Legislative Briefing in Baton Rouge attended by new C100 member, Deborah Randolph, President of the Central Louisiana Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The two-day event began with a reception for state legislators hosted by C100 members. The next day, C100 members received updates on the current legislative session from Speaker of the House Clay Schexnayder and Senator Mike Reese who serves on the Senate Revenue & Fiscal Affairs Committee. Governor John Bel Edwards addressed the group, outlining the successes that have been achieved under his leadership while recognizing the remaining work to be done. Dr. Beverly Haydel of Sequitur Consulting and Jim Patterson from LABI made a presentation on LA23, LABI’s current project to position Louisiana as a top-tier economic leader in the South by the year 2030.
The briefing’s program concluded with a panel discussion by Dr. Steven Procopio of PAR, Barry Erwin of CABL, and Michael Olivier of C100 outlining the collaborative legislative agenda of the three organizations, 2023 RESET Louisiana, that started in 2019 and is finishing this year with numerous successes. Ms. Randolph who attended the briefing commented that the talks “were all very informative on the accomplishments and work needed by organizations like the Committee of 100 and the CENLA Chamber in partnership with legislators and other good government entities.”
Ms. Randolph was selected earlier this year for membership in C100. Spencer Martin, Business Development/ Owner of Roy O. Martin, who joined C100 at the end of 2022 and nominated Ms. Randolph for membership stated, “Deborah is a proven leader, and C100 is privileged to have her join our efforts to maintain and improve the business climate in Louisiana.” C100 CEO Michael Olivier stated “C100 is very fortunate to have these two business leaders from Central Louisiana as part of our business roundtable. Our entire state and business community will benefit from their involvement in the Committee.”
