Scott McKnight is vice president and director of Business Development for BancorpSouth Insurance Services Inc. Consistently listed among the nation’s largest, bank-owned brokerage firms and the nation’s largest brokerage firms overall, BXSI operates globally with 32 offices in nine states.
Scott joined BXSI as a benefits consultant in 1999. Throughout his career, he has gained knowledge regarding employee benefits coverage and has assisted clients in developing healthcare strategies to reduce their overall healthcare costs while maintaining their quality of care. His efforts led to him being selected in 2012 as one of the Capital Region’s Rising Stars and to his being named to Baton Rouge Business Report’s “40 Under 40.”
A Baton Rouge native, Scott grew up working in the family business at Wright & Percy Insurance, a capital city-headquartered firm founded in 1882. He attended University High School in Baton Rouge and went on to earn his bachelor’s and MBA from LSU.
Between earning his degrees, Scott met and married Elizabeth Allgood McKnight. They are both lifelong residents of Baton Rouge, are
parishioners at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, and have two sons.
Scott serves on many non-profit boards, including Cancer Services of Baton Rouge, Companion Animal Alliance, and The Better Business Bureau. He is also a member of the Republican State Central Committee and the Republican Parish Executive Committee for East Baton Rouge. For the past five years Scott has also been a reserve deputy for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office. In this role, he has donated hundreds of hours that have included uniform patrol, traffic enforcement, DUI enforcement, sex crime investigation, and assisting the Training Division.
