Jerry Lebold is the Senior Vice President and General Manager for BASF’s largest North American manufacturing site in Geismar, Louisiana. Leading more than 2,000 employees and contractors who create chemistry every day, Jerry is responsible for Geismar operations including 27 plants that manufacture many different products including urethanes used in foam insulation, shoes, and furniture; chemical intermediates used in adhesives, coatings, plastics, water and gas treatment; and surfactants used in detergents.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a master’s degree in Mathematics from Ohio University, Jerry started his career as a Field Service Engineering at McDermott International before moving to operations management roles at Ford Motor Company.
He later transitioned to the chemical sector managing operations at Monsanto, Solutia and Israel Chemicals. While at Solutia, he was assigned to a three-year delegation to Suzhou, China where he led the construction and startup up of a new manufacturing facility.
In 2012, Jerry joined BASF as part of the acquisition of Novolyte Technologies where he was the Global Manufacturing Director with responsibilities in North America and China. He then served as Butanediol and Derivatives Production Director at BASF’s Geismar site. Jerry was then promoted to Vice President of Performance Chemicals (EV) Operations in North America based in Florham Park, New Jersey. He was responsible for all North American manufacturing sites across EV’s diverse business portfolio including Plastic Additives, Oilfield, Mining, Paper and Water, Fuel and Lubricants as well as the Kaolin business.
In 2017, he moved into a role based in BASF’s global headquarters in Ludwigshafen, Germany where he served as Global Operations Vice President for the Chemical Catalysts business. Since the move into his current role in 2019, Jerry serves on the board of directors for the Louisiana Chemical Association, Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance and Louisiana Association of Business & Industry.
