Harold J. Callais II, “Hal” is the Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of Callais Capital Management, overseeing investment activity and engaging with portfolio companies to add value to their management teams. Callais is a fourth generation in his family of serial entrepreneurs and was exposed to a unique set of experiences in family business management at a young age. These experiences taught Callais to understand what it takes to be successful, know when to admit defeat, and how to identify opportunity and risk.
Callais was drawn to the complexity and inner workings of financial services and began his career at a family-owned community bank. After spending a decade learning the inner workings of commercial banking, Callais demonstrated his combined experiences to develop accounting efficiencies, increased bond portfolio performance by 200bps, and empowered the bank to make better decisions by enhancing liquidity analytics and interest rate risk management.

Combining quantitative analytics and experiences in financial services management, with an upbringing saturated with entrepreneurship and family business management; Callais founded Callais Capital Management with his father and brother, to institutionalize this framework. Drawing on four generations of lessons learned and developed relationships, Callais leverages his own experiences to compliment his work with entrepreneurs and management teams.

Callais has a BS in Finance from Nicholls State University and holds the NASAA Series 65. Callais currently serves on numerous Board of Directors for portfolio companies, two advisory boards, and two investment committees. Callais currently serves as Treasurer for the Board of Trustees of Bayou Community Academy. Callais was previously the Vice President of the Nicholls Alumni Federation, and part of the inaugural class for the Emerging Leader’s Council of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry.

Callais was awarded ACG Louisiana’s 2016 Young Dealmaker of the Year and was recognized on Silicon Bayou’s list of the 100 most influential and active people in tech and entrepreneurship in Louisiana for 2016 and 2017.

Harold and his wife Kristen, are active community members in Thibodaux, where they live with their five children, Molly, Harold, Gregory, Oliver, and Corey.
