Aphriekah DuHaney-West joined Ochsner LSU Health in March 2020 as Chief Operating Officer and was promoted to Chief Executive Officer in December 2020. She manages the day-to-day operations and oversees the operational excellence, physician and employee engagement, and the strategic market position for the Academic Medical Centers 454 licensed bed facility. She began her career in healthcare as a nursing assistant in 1990 at a nursing home in California. She went on to become an LPN and RN working in Medical-Surgical, Behavioral Health, Critical Care, Emergency Department, Quality, and Case Management. As a certified safety professional, she has become a champion of quality and patient safety, engaging and involving communities in their healthcare. She has built a strong reputation as a passionate and dynamic Servant Leader.

West served in various executive leadership roles at LifePoint Health for over 10 years prior to her move to Shreveport, Louisiana. She served as Chief Executive Officer in Lexington, Kentucky, and Morgan City, Louisiana. She served as Chief Operating Officer at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte, Louisiana, and Acadian Medical Center in Eunice, Louisiana. She served in numerous mission-critical initiatives in the areas of physician satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and service line development in LifePoint Health facilities, including serving as Chief Nursing Officer of Havasu Regional Medical Center in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, West Virginia.

West holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, a Master’s degree in Nursing Science, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. She is certified in healthcare management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She is the recipient of multiple honors including the Health Service Chief Nursing Officer Award in 2010 and Becker’s Hospital Review named West, Chief Executive Officer of Teche Regional Medical Center, as a top female leader to its annual list of 143 women hospital and health system leaders to know in 2019.

West is an advocate for educating and developing the community’s youth and promoting workforce development within the healthcare industry. She continues to mentor healthcare leaders and is frequently requested to be a guest speaker at local, state, and national conferences.

West is active in numerous industry, community, and philanthropic activities. She currently serves on the Board of North Louisiana Economic Partnership, is a Board Member and Auction Committee Chair for St. Jude’s Miracles on the Red, and is involved with other nonprofit organizations such as Community Foundation, Feeding America, and Hope Connections.
