The Committee for 100 for Economic Development, Inc. (C100) has selected a new member for the 2022 year.
On Sept. 30, C100 announced that Dr. John George was selected as the 2022 member.
C100 is a nonpolitical, nonprofit membership group organized as an educational, civic and charitable organization whose members are local high-ranking executives and professionals in northwest Louisiana.
The committee works to mobilize the business community in Shreveport, Bossier City and surrounding areas to maintain active interests in regional economic development, education and community relations.
George is the Chief Executive Officer for BRF, which is an economic development organization established in north Louisiana and is the destination for high growth initiatives and is responsible for the expansion of economic development initiatives in north Louisiana.
George also leads educational programs through EdVentures high school STEM initiatives to grow technology and knowledge-based workforce in partnership with LSU Health Shreveport. This program provides academic advancement for high school students to gain research experience and mentorship from LSUHS mentors.
George and his wife, Nicole, live in Shreveport with their daughter, Angelle. He has four sons, Tripp, Graham, Crawford and Bishop. He holds a B.S. from Centenary College of Louisiana and an M.D. from the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport.
“John brings talent, experience, and a keen interest in economic development to the Committee of 100 that will be important to our purpose in making Louisiana a better place for our citizens and for business and industry,” C100 Chief Executive Michael Oliver said.
C100 is currently engaged in seeking fiscal reform measures to make Louisiana a more competitive business environment for existing business as well as recruit new business and industry to Louisiana.
Among notable current board memberships in the Committee of 100 are the Eighth Air Force Consultation Committee, the Louisiana Health Care Quality Forum, the Louisiana Economic Development Corporation, Advanced Aero Concepts, Asteri Networks and Bia Energy.
