Committee of 100 for Economic Development Selects Blake David

The Committee of 100 for Economic Development, Inc. has selected Blake R. David as a member for 2022.  A Lafayette native, Blake is a business owner and founding law partner of Broussard & David, LLC. From 2012-2019, Mr. David has been recognized by Louisiana Super Lawyers as one of the TOP 50 lawyers in the state of Louisiana.

C100 Chief Executive Michael Olivier stated “Blake’s talent and background aligns with the Committee of 100 principles that are important to our purpose in making Louisiana a better place for our citizens and for business and industry.” The Committee is currently engaged in seeking fiscal reform measures to make Louisiana a more competitive business environment for existing business as well as recruit new business and industry to Louisiana. 

Mr. David is board certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in Civil Trial Advocacy. He is also an Advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Annually, Mr. David teaches Trial Advocacy at the LSU Law Center. Mr. David’s professional associations include the Louisiana State Bar Association (Board of Governors), Louisiana Association for Justice (President, Executive Committee Member, Maritime Section Chair), Lafayette Bar Association (Past President, Foundation Board Member), American Inn of Court of Acadiana (Past President), International Society of Barristers, and the International Association of Trial Lawyers. He also is a founding board member of the Lafayette-Acadiana Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (Past President). 

In addition to the practice of law, Mr. David is an equity partner in numerous Louisiana based business enterprises, including oil exploration, commercial and residential real estate properties, wood/metal door manufacturing, health clinics, and restaurants. Most notably, Mr. David, along with his brother, Jude David, own Kin Capital Partners, a Lafayette based acquisition company that owns Stately Doors & Windows — manufacturers and distributors of high-end custom wooden and iron doors and windows. Stately Doors & Windows has acquired four separate companies that operate nationwide, and has offices, manufacturing facilities, distribution hubs, and/or logistical trucking locations in Louisiana, Georgia, Texas, and New Mexico).

In 2017, Mr. David was appointed to the Louisiana Board of Regents by Governor John Bel Edwards and confirmed by the Louisiana Senate. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of Regents and sits on the Executive Committee. Mr. David currently serves or has served on multiple community organizations, including, LEDA – Lafayette Economic Development Authority (Executive Committee), First Horizon/IberiaBank (Advisory Board), Downtown Development Authority (Past Chairman), Opus Christi Magnum Catholic Charities, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, ABC Art Fund, The Acadiana Tigers, and a founding board member of “the705”, a young professionals organization focused on leadership and service in the community.  

In 2009, Mr. David was honored as the “Outstanding Young Lawyer of Louisiana” award by the Louisiana State Bar Association. In 2006, The Daily Advertiser recognized Mr. David as “20 Under 40”, an honor designating Mr. David as one of Acadiana’s 20 most successful businesspersons under 40 years of age. 

Prior to litigating, Mr. David worked as a registered lobbyist with Haynie & Associates in Baton Rouge. He and his wife, Amber, reside in Lafayette with their three children.
