October 4, 2019 | New Orleans, LA - Get ready for a full day of education, exhibits, demos, test drives, and networking with industry experts at the 2019 Clean Fuels Summit, hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Southeast Louisiana Clean Fuel Partnership and Louisiana Clean Fuels. Public and private sector professionals in the fields of sustainability, fleet management, air quality, transportation, automotive maintenance and engineering, urban planning, and social policy are encouraged to attend. The event will bring together alternative fuel vehicle technology speakers from around the country covering today’s hottest topics including: sustainable transportation, disaster preparedness, medium and heavy-duty electric vehicles, the national skilled technician shortage, funding opportunities, and more. Attendees get the chance to test drive vehicles on NOLA Motorsports Park’s racetrack and network with an array of potential project partners. A buffet lunch sponsored by Paretti Jaguar of New Orleans is included. Students receive discounted admission with a valid ID.

 

Featured Presentations Include:

The Future of Transportation by Bobby Hill, Vice President of North American Sales for the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, Build Your Dreams (BYD); and Tom Hopkins, Regional Business Development Manager at ROUSH CleanTech, an industry leader of alternative fuel vehicle technology. Presenters will discuss their visions of how technology is shaping and changing the industry and attendees will get a sneak peek into what’s coming in the not-so-distant future.

Plugging into Trucking Trends by Dave Schaller of the North American Council for Freight Efficiency’s (NACFE) will cover advancements in medium and heavy-duty electric trucks, NACFE’s work to double freight efficiency, and their “Run on Less” fuel efficiency roadshow kicking off in October featuring C&S Wholesale Grocers from Hammond, LA.

Workforce Development: Exploring Issues and Solutions to the Shortage of Skilled Workers in the Automotive Industry featuring Jared Schnader of the national clean transportation organization CALSTART, Bobby Hill of BYD, and Chance McNeely, Executive Director of the Louisiana Motor Transport Association (LMTA), will address the shortage of technicians in the automotive industry as well as innovative solutions to fill this critical workforce gap in the ever-increasing alternative fuel vehicle market.

Louisiana’s Volkswagen (VW) Settlement Funding Update by Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) Secretary Dr. Chuck Carr Brown will highlight the state’s VW funding program, projects, and upcoming application period.

Finding the Funds: The Role of Incentives in Clean Transportation Projects by Joe Annotti of clean transportation and energy consultants, Gladstein Neandross & Associates (GNA) will provide an overview of the latest grants and funding opportunities for implementing innovative fleet projects.

Campus Community: Sustainability at Scale by Gretchen Vanicor and Terrence Chambers of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Office of Sustainability will discuss campus-wide energy efficiency improvements via solar-powered electric vehicle charging station pilot projects and student-led research.

Disaster Resilience and Preparedness by Rick Herndon of Innovative Rail Technologies (IRT) will discuss the prospective benefits of battery-electric rail applications to increase transportation resiliency in Louisiana.
