Bio
Dr. Phillip Rozeman is the President and a founding physician of Cardiovascular Consultants. He is a native of Shreveport and has been a practicing cardiologist in Northwest Louisiana since 1984. Dr. Rozeman has extensive experience and expertise in the field of invasive cardiology – being one of the pioneers of coronary angioplasty, stenting procedures and dual chamber pacer implantationsin this area. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Cardiology, and American Board of Interventional Cardiology and has been recognized as one of America’s Top Cardiologistsby the Consumer Research Councilfrom 2006 to the present. The USA Todayrecognized Dr. Rozeman as one of the most influential physiciansin the treatment of hyperlipidemia.

Throughout his career, Dr. Rozeman has maintained an intense interest in quality improvement efforts in medicine and is active as chief of that program at Willis-Knighton Health System – the largest private health system in Louisiana. He has served in many leadership roles at Willis-Knighton Health System. This includes tenures as Chief of Internal Medicineand Chief of Staff, as well as service on the Medical Executive Board since 1994. Currently, he serves as member of the Board of Trusteesgoverning the Willis-Knighton system and is Chief of Cardiology of the Minden Heart and Vascular Center.

Dr. Rozeman is active in numerous civic and professional organizations with special focus on healthcare and education improvement in Louisiana. In addition to his leadership roles in his cardiology practice and the Willis-Knighton System, he has served as Chairman of the Governor’s Region VII Healthcare Consortium under Governor Blanco. He took a leadership role in helping establish the first secondary smoke ordinance in Louisiana and, as Medical Director of Northwest Louisiana Red Cross, he led the effort to supply medical services to evacuees of Hurricane Katrina and Rita. For this work, he was honored by the American Lung Association of Louisiana with the 2006 Louisiana “Breath of Life” Awardand American Cancer Society “Distinguished Service Award”.

Dr. Rozeman’s involvement in education includes founding the regional education foundation Alliance for Educationto increase community involvement in public education in Northwest Louisiana. He served as chairman of the Caddo Education Taskforce a grassroots initiative in Caddo Parish that developed and passed an $88 million bond issue for school improvements.

Dr. Rozeman is also co-founder and first board president of Education’s Next Horizon – a statewide organization designed to connect education, business, and government leaders in support of school improvement in Louisiana. Through this work, he has lead the creation of Louisiana’s Promise – a statewide community initiative to reduce the dropout rate.

For his work in education improvement, he has received several honors including Distinguished Partner in Education from the Louisiana Department ofEducation,Louisiana Association of Educators “Friend of Education Award”, the Blue Cross of Louisiana “Angel Award”, and the annual Cornerstone Award of the Acadiana United Way.

Dr. Rozeman attended medical school at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveportand completed his internship, residency, and fellowship in cardiology at the Medical University of South Carolina. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention. He is married to Alma Pineda Rozeman for 33 years and has three children – Laura, Sarah, and Mark.
