BioDarren Olagues currently serves as President of Cleco Power. Darren’s responsibilities cover the continuum of energy services, including power supply, delivery and customer service across 23 parishes.
Before becoming president of Cleco Power, Darren served as Chief Financial Officer for Cleco Corporation from 2009 to 2013. Darren began his career at Cleco in 2007 by serving as Senior Vice President of Cleco Midstream Resources, the company’s unregulated business subsidiary.
Darren came to Cleco from Exelon Corporation, headquartered in Chicago. While at Exelon, Darren held various financial positions of increasing responsibility.
Darren serves on the board of the LSUA Foundation and is a Trustee at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church. He also serves on the board of the Public Affairs Research Council and the Tulane Energy Institute Executive Advisory Board. He is a member of the board of directors for Energy Insurance Mutual. Darren earned his undergraduate degree from Tulane University.
In October 2014, the company entered into an agreement to be acquired by a North American investor group led by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation. Once the transaction closes, Darren is expected to become President and CEO of Cleco Corporation.
