Tina Holland

Dr. Tina Holland has been President of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (FranU) since 2014. Under her leadership, FranU grew from the former Our Lady of the Lake College to a university with three schools, the School of Nursing, the School of Health Professions and the School of Arts and Sciences. Courses of study now range from professional certificates to Doctoral level degree programs. As the only Catholic University with a specific niche in healthcare education and Catholic healthcare ethics, FranU is also a leader in Catholic theology, providing the education and formation for deacons and lay professionals in the Diocese of Baton Rouge.   


Before coming to Baton Rouge, Holland served for more than 22 years at Holy Cross College at Notre Dame, Indiana, where she served in various roles, including mathematics professor, program director for at-risk students, Vice President for Student Affairs, and Executive Vice President. Prior to her career in higher education, she served as an intelligence officer in the United States Marine Corps.   


Holland earned a PhD in Higher Education Administration and Leadership at Indiana State University, a Master of Arts degree in International Relations at the University of San Diego and a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering and in Political Science from the United States Naval Academy. 


Dr. Holland serves on the boards of several education and service organizations at the local, state and national levels, including, St. Joseph’s Academy and Franciscan High School in Baton Rouge, the University of Holy Cross, in New Orleans, St. Joseph’s Seminary College in Covington, and the Cristo Rey National Network Board. Holland represents the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (LAICU) on the Healthworks Commission of the Louisiana Board of Regents and on the recently appointed HR155 Workgroup, assigned to propose statewide solutions to healthcare workforce challenges. She is a trustee of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Colleges (SACSCOC) and of the national Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU). She also serves on the Executive Board of the Association of Franciscan Colleges and Universities. Holland was appointed by Governor Edwards to the Board of the Louisiana Educational Television Agency (LETA) and by the President of the United States to the White House Commission for Presidential Scholars. 


Tina and her husband, Peter Holland have been married for 37 years, and they are blessed with four grown children and three beautiful grandsons.
